Our Statement about what this site is and what we are trying to demonstrate...

My part of this website is the Bible on Jesus' Marriage. My responsibility was to research what the Bible tells people about whether or not Jesus was married and who his wife is or if he even had a wife. It also lead me to research who Mary Magdalene was and different views of who she is. We have all put together this website for our English 110 class as a part of our final project on conspiracy theories. This website is a way to combine all of our ideas and research that we have been doing over the last part of the semester and store them all in one place. I think we are trying to demonstrate the different views of Jesus, the Holy Grail, and whether or not he was married. We are putting organized information out there for other people to look at but we aren't making a conclusion of what exactly happened.

I created a few different pages to this website surrounding the conspiracy of Jesus' marriage and bloodline. My responsibilities began with writing about the types of religions who believe in this divine marriage. Therefore I first created a page on Gnostic Christianity and included a section on Mormonism. Both religions indicate that Jesus was married in their respective literature. However, Mormons believe that Jesus could have been married to more than just one woman, while Gnostic Christians strictly believe he was solely with Mary Magdalene. I also created the page of descriptions on the newly found Coptic text. I included a photo of the text and it's analysis performed by Karen L. King, Harvard Divinity Professor. We also created sections about The Da Vinci Code, The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail, and The Jesus Scroll, all novels containing different ideas on Jesus' marriage and bloodline. Many of us had information on the novels, so this webpage was an excellent tool for us to combine our ideas and information into one media. The website combines those novels, religious ideas, Coptic text finding, and beliefs from the bible to fully develop the ideas surrounding the conspiracy. We attempted to include many different resources to keep our tone neutral so our wide range of audience members understand there are many different ideas surrounding this conspiracy.

For my portion of the website I wrote specifically about the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. It has a lot to say about the conspiracy surrounding Mary Magdalene so it's crucial that we discuss what exactly it says. The book has been a staple in the argument for Mary's marriage even though it's fictional. We are neither here to disprove or to prove the theory, rather we aim solely to discuss its most crucial points of argument.

I created the Da Vinci Code page. I wrote about the story in the book and how it relates to the conspiracy. I then looked at a few different misrepresentations of the Bible that Dan Brown used to make a compelling read. Finally I researched a study of British readers of the novel and looked at why so many people believe in the conspiracy/book rather than the Bible. Some of this was taken from my storify account, but by and large I had to produce new material so as to not retread the same material in other sections of this conspiracy. I also added pictures and stuff.
